Australia – From Sydney to Brisbane

Traveling is about new places, new impressions and new adventures. After living in Sydney for over two months we decided it was time to leave Bondi behind and go on a new adventure: Brisbane! We hired a relocation car and the road trip to Brissy could commence.

First stop: Port Macquarie
The distance between Sydney and Brisbane is 921km – quite the distance for us Europeans. So we decided to drive there in three days. Our first stop was the lovely town of Port Macquarie. After a long (almost 5 hours) and rainy drive from Sydney we arrived at this pretty little town where soon the skies cleared up. We checked in, dropped our bags and walked along the little harbour, just in time to see the sun set and to make some new friends.

The next day, after a lovely breakfast, we went on the Port Macquarie Coastal Walk. It took us past beautiful beaches and gorgeous cliffs. After a few hours of walking we got back into the car for our next destination.

Next stop: Coffs Harbour.
Around 4 o’clock we arrived at Coffs Harbour, just in time again to see the sunset! We ran to the beach for a little stroll and watched the day turn into night. Afterwards we got ourselves a nice bottle of wine and some snacks and curled up in our comfy motel room, to doze off early. The next day we had another long drive ahead of us.

Of course you can’t leave Coffs Harbour without visiting the actual harbour, so we headed over there to soak up some sun. It’s unbelievable how different the weather is only 8 hours up north! After some coffee and pancakes for breakfast we jumped back in the car to face the 400km ahead of us.

Tired but happy we arrived at our final destination: Brisbane! We’re staying with the lovely Sam and Scott who I met on my travels in Vietnam 1,5 years ago. Can’t wait to start exploring Brissy and its surroundings!
